Our mission is to offer students the best and most comprehensive make-up training in the country, from some of the industry’s wealth of up-to-date talented professional make-up artists. Birmingham’s first independent internationally-certified make-up school, ideally located within The Custard Factory, the heart of Birmingham’s creative quarter and just a five minute walk from the city’s Bullring, Moor Street Station and New Street Station.

The School offers the highest standard of short intensive make-up courses, ranging from Foundation level to media make-up through to fashion, photographic, editorial and catwalk make-up all taught by internationally acclaimed and celebrity make-up artists and industry experts. Our courses can be taken full-time, part-time evenings or weekends. Enabling students to study their make-up skills in a flexible way that suits their needs.

The Central School of Make-Up offers a completely new way of training to the Midlands budding make-up artists. Courses are designed to be ‘hands on’ and less theoretical, meaning you will gain as much experience as possible during your course. 

Although our courses are short and intensive this does not mean that less hours on a course will mean less skills. As you will be taught to the highest industry curriculum (IMA) and standards.  Standards that the Creative Director is proud of and has gained her a high calibre career within the make-up and beauty industry.

Welcome to the International School of Hair & Make-Up (ISHM). We are proud to be Leicester’s first internationally certified, fully independent make-up school offering individuals the chance to develop their career on a global scale. All of our courses are accredited by the International Make-Up Association (IMA), which carries great weight across the world.

We set exceptionally high standards from the offset for all our students and a large part of this stems from our expert teaching panel. In addition to a team of regular local and national industry leaders, we also have a team of highly acclaimed international celebrity make-up artists who our students have the privilege of learning from, making the courses ideal for both aspiring and existing industry professionals, looking to take the next step in their careers.

Our team is led by Founder and Director of ISHM; Meera Kotecha. Meera has a wealth of industry experience having worked with leading global brands Benefit and MAC, while working across a range of different events enabling her to master theatrical, bridal, editorial and special effects make-up as well as developing her skills in hair dressing. She has since launched a successful salon and is forever in-demand with brides across the UK.
